Pluckley Cream Tea Season starts again

MAN_RESTYes, it’s that time of the year when the master (or mistress) scone bakers heat up their ovens and the jam makers polish their preserving pans.

Starting on Sunday 26 May, 2 to 5pm, it’s Cream Tea Time in St Nicholas’ Churchyard, Pluckley.

We’re there every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday afternoon with homemade scones and jam, homemade coffee and chocolate cakes, freshly brewed pots of tea courtesy of the Pluckley Tea Company at Pivington, and delicious filteres coffee. There’s also squash or milk on the menu and, of course, a bowl of water for your well-behaved dog.
And, if you’re on your way and the sun goes behind a cloud or the wind comes up, we’re still open for business: instead of enjoying the views across the Andredsweald (the ancient Saxon forest and Weald of Kent) we keep a few tables inside the church where it’s more cosy.

Graveyard Robbery

Sometime during Friday 7 December, three variegated holly bushes in St Nicholas’ Churchyard, Pluckley were vandalised. Persons, currently unknown, helped themselves to a large quantity of holly, leaving the three bushes looking like large mouthfuls had been taken out of them. The thieves seemed to have made a hasty retreat judging by the quantity of branches strewn around the churchyard. They also seem to have come prepared as the branches had been cut using secateurs or loppers.

The incident has been reported to the police and the crime number is 07-1210. If you saw anything please report it to the police be calling 101
