You may like to start your Lenten journey with a special Communion Service with ‘ashing’. Ashes are an ancient sign of penitence. From the middle ages it became the custom to begin Lent by being marked in ash with the sign of the cross. The words used at the imposition of the ashes:
“Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return. Turn away from sin and be faithful to Christ”,
encourage us to observe a holy Lent by self-examination and repentance, by prayer, fasting and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God’s word.
Services will take place in:
Charing Heath at 10.30am
Westwell at 7.30pm
