What a wonderful array of Lent Courses we have on offer this Lent in the G7 Benefice! You are encouraged to attend one of them. Please contact the leader if you hope to attend. Depending on the course you attend there may be materials to purchase.

A. Theme – ‘The Way’.

This course explores Christian understandings of ‘salvation’ in a five part study course based on the film ‘The Way’. We follow Martin Sheen as a bereaved father in this soulful and uplifting film where we observe a group of pilgrims walking the Way of St. James to Santiago de Compostela. We follow these pilgrims’ journey of inner transformation. The course examines the biblical accounts and images of salvation – past, present and future – and addresses the questions:

• What are we saved from?

• What are we saved for?

• Who can be saved?

• What do we have to do to be saved?

• How are we saved?

C. Theme – “This is our Story”

‘Our’ story springs from Jesus’ story and it is through his eyes that we read the scriptures. This Lent we use Acts of the Apostles chapters 1 and 2 to interpret Jesus’ passion and resurrection. This is where the early Christian community began a transformative journey – a journey rooted in the story of God through scripture.

The course enters into the experiences of the post-resurrection disciples and follows their transformative journey – a journey rooted in the story of God through scripture.
