It’s time for the Easter Monday Youth Pilgrimage again – Monday 9th April. It’s a great fun day. Starting off at Chartham (meet 9:45) we do a mini-pilgrimage from there into Canterbury to the Cathedral. Last year Archbishop Rowan joined us for the walk.
We had a great day out last year, a lovely walk in the sunshine and great music at the Cathedral last year… oh yes and some ‘photo opportunities’ as well?! The EMYP was one of many highlights of last year’s G7Teen outings!
Contact Mim on 07725 112141 for more details and to confirm you are coming. Parents need to sign an EMYP consent form.
9:45 Meet at Chartham(in front of Chartham Village Hall) Some parking is available in the Village Hall
10:00 Leave Chartham- following the Stour Valley Walk footpath all the way into Canterbury – (approximately 4 Miles)
12:00 Arrive at the Cathedral at
14:45 Finish at the Cathedral (either back by train to Chartham – bring train fare or parents can pick up from Canterbury)
Bring your own packed lunch (and don’t forget water!)
Sung worship will be led by the worship band from the Y Congregation, Whitstable.
The lunch time period is being left free for people to share their stories of pilgrimage, journey and life over their meals: there will be some creative installations to help us think about how “we welcome”.
“The Easter Monday Youth Pilgrimage has been going for over 30 years and provides a unique opportunity for young Christians to make their way from across the region to Canterbury Cathedral to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Last year around 600 people joined the pilgrimage, including Archbishop Rowan and Bishop Trevor.” for more go to the EMYP webpage.
