Back on 10th July, Re:fresh held their service on Tankerton Beach to celebrate Sea Sunday.
Congregations across the world celebrate the role of seafarers and give thanks for their hard work as they join in the Sea Sunday campaign. Sea Sunday has been celebrated in churches since 1975 when the second Sunday in July was adopted by the Mission to Seafarers as a thanksgiving day for all that seafarers do in transporting the world’s goods.
The day is often marked by parades, shore side services, ship blessings and church services. David and Kelley Playfair kindly invited us to their fantastic Beach Hut on Tankerton Beach for a BBQ before the service.
Caroline got the children involved in the teaching by building sandcastles on the beach and on a rock to see which ones lasted the longest and, therefore, had the strongest foundations. Pete led worship on his guitar. We all had a great time of praise, worship, teaching and fellowship.
The Sea Sunday Service next year will be on 8th July so please do come and join us, everyone is welcome.
